Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workshop

With the many crises happening around the world, our daily living can become very stressful.  For many, it’s easy to feel pressured throughout the day from the constant demands of work, school, family needs, and finances. OR we may experience stress from sudden, difficult changes in our lives -- such as divorce, illness, losing your job, death of a loved one, or other unhappy life events that often have a long impact.  OR we might experience traumatic stress, which could happen when we’re in danger of serious harm or death, i.e., a vehicle accident, war, flood, or other frightening event. Stress may sometimes hang around and make you feel anxious and restless, or you may experience stress without even realizing it – all of which can harm your health.  Stress may cause body aches, tension in your shoulders or lower back, headaches, mood swings, emotional outbursts, loss of appetite, or increased appetite.  These are all serious signs to take note of and remind yourself that it’s time to relax, reflect, and refocus on the present.

Are you ready to slow down and release pent-up anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness?  A great first step is to cultivate your own mindfulness practice. Mindfulness – being present both internally and externally – has been shown to ease relationship stress, improve satisfaction, and reduce anxiety, sadness, depression, and anger.  In this powerful workshop, Dr. Goddard will introduce some of the basic ideas and evidence-based exercises of MBSR.  Come and explore the steps to becoming fully present, staying aware of where we are and what we are doing, and stopping overreacting and feeling overwhelmed by what’s happening around us.  Your point of power is in the present moment.  We can allow ourselves to mindfully form our experience of being present to ourselves and others.  Join us!

About Tom Ronen Goddard, Ph.D., Somatic Energy Practitioner

Dr. Goddard, working with the world-renowned expert on MBSR, Dr. Rezvan Ameli, has delivered MBSR training to clinicians at the National Institutes of Health, and is currently collaborating with Dr. Ameli on bringing a new, short-form version of MBSR training to the Research Triangle Region.
